curious as heck

I see a lot of things like wii game controls for 88 cents or gold rings at 1 cent from hong kong or china shipping not that bad. What up legit or scam?~ UNTIL SHE COMES HOME|||Likely counterfeit "wii" and lead "gold" And when you receive the widget and find out, it will cost an arm and a leg to return the item to China with Delivery Confirmation to get your refund.~ Lucy ~ Guide to eBay Board AcronymsClick on for links to Help Pages for a new eBayer|||just weird 99% or better feedback sold thousands~ UNTIL SHE COMES HOME|||Well, that's largely because most of the people who buy them know EXACTLY what they are bidding on and are willing to take a chance that it's worth that dollar or whatever(and in the case of costume jewelry it often is). You will also invariably see lots of newbies in those sellers feedback profiles who left feedback the moment the item arrived without actually checking it out first.|||there are bargains to be found on eBay, but usually not from China. You really have to do your homework on everything you plan to bid on - including the reputation of the seller - and don't forget to factor in the shipping cost. It's an old saw - but true -"If it seems too good to be true - it probably is". People are NOT out there selling real gold rings for $.99 - if you're willing to believe that, then you deserve what you get which will be junk.|||Well look at this what am I missing. Seems ok but am I missing something. Scam? Item number: 170496761008~ UNTIL SHE COMES HOME|||Is it my imagination of did people used to say "If it's too good to be true......" Common sense will never be in vogue.||||||most are from china probably full of lead or something...lol takes 25 days to get it~ UNTIL SHE COMES HOME|||I don't trust the legitimacy of any videogames or videogame accessories from Hong Kong only they're from playasia. I'm sure there are legitimate sellers, but Hong Kong is a hotspot for bootlegging and counterfeiting. That said, I have bought cheapy electronic equipment from Chinese sellers. I did so knowing I was paying little and thus wouldn't expect the item to work for long. For example, I bought cheap headphones since I knew I was going to get good ones later but needed working ones for a few months. (Those ones broke with almost uncanny timing. They kicked the bucket a few days before my good ones arrived.) I actually regret such purchases now. It seems so wasteful. I actually saved the dead headphones just in case I found some use for them later (reusing the wires, for example).|||That pair sold for $0.01 with $6.99 shipping. When I pulled it up, I was offered a bunch of listings to look at since that one was over, including someone in Brooklyn, NY who has a pair for $6.99 with free shipping. So they cost the same, but if they don't work, one has to be sent back to China, and one to NY. I have gotten some good deals (not unbelievable, just good) on beads, pearls, etc from China but I have a good idea of what they are selling that doesn't depend entirely on their description, and if I'm not sure I buy one as a sample before I have any real money invested in it. - cheers|||Most stuffs from China are fakes. You are getting exactly what you are paying for. Cheap junk. Most their solid silver items are plated and goodness knows what they are using as base metals. It's better to spend more with a reputable seller and get something worth keeping and using. Susan|||I'm so glad I found this thread. I've been curious too about this. Regrettably for me I ( being a newbie) didn't know better and did bid on a modern huge oil painting for a penny and won which I never imagined would have happened, I was sure I'd be outbid. All I have to pay is $59.00 for S&H. Thinking since it came from China it must costs that much to ship a painting that size. My question is this: Should I expect a poster of the picture that size to arrive, or a lead ridden cheaply/ poorly made picture instead ? I checked the sellers feedback which was 99.1% positives votes. Has anyone ordered a picture from China for a penny and was happy with the results?. I checked that sellers feedback but the reviews i read where mostly coming from customers who bought jewelery. Only one person commented that they liked it but that person gave that positive right after they won.|||Wolfee - Go to the Art & Artist board & search on "China". Most of the paintings from China are done by unknown painters, copying others works. Some of them actually copy paintings listed on this site by the original artist. Not to say you can't find a legitimate chinese artist somewhere on this site, but they are rare. - cheers|||Thank you for your response. I just got a message from a seller in China on another picture that I bought(much cheaper at $25 with free S$H) asking me if I wanted to have the picture stretched for an additional fee of $30. I have no idea what that means. He also said it was safer to ship that way. Should I do it?
