My 5th generation iPod Classic is having the same problem that many in the forums are discussing in that it is not producing output when docked nor through the headphone jack. I experienced the same problem that is described by many on this support site: at first static, then sound would come in and out, and now nothing whatsoever.
My question is, what is Apple doing to reconcile this issue that apparently a large amount of customers are having with this model iPod? I purchased mine in early 2007 so it is out of the original 1 year service plan, but still this seems to be an overwhelming problem, which indicates a significant defect.
Has anyone come across a solution that Apple is providing for those of us who have this model iPod, who are also out of warranty?
I would love to continue to use this machine.
Thanks!
