How can I fix my problem? My Ipod Just ...

I have a 60GB 5th Generation iPod. A few weeks ago it was working fine. It has no damage, it operated like it was suppose to and charged like it's suppose to. I used it all day one day and it died on me before I could make it home to my charger, when I got home that night I plugged it into my wall charger and the screen said "Please Wait. Very Low Battery". I decided to just let it charge while I was sleep, but the next morning when I grabbed my iPod it STILL said "Please Wait. Very Low Battery". It wouldn't turn on at all, and I had the problem the whole day. I read through all the Apple Discussions related to my problem and tried all the suggestions.

-Toggle Hold Switch
-Reset the ipod (Multiple Times)
-Try Disk Mode
-Re-Install itunes
-Try a New Wall Charger (the adaptor thing)
-Try USB Port on Computer
-Try USB Port on another Computer
-Replace Charger (the usb cord)
-and finally replace the battery itself

None of the suggestions mentioned worked for me and this problem didn't start until the iPod died on me. Are there any other methods for me to try? My warranty is expired and I'm not buying a new ipod so I'm going for the cheapest way to fix this.
