So, here's the deal.
My Ipod has been working fine for about 2 years now, until just recently. I've experienced no problems up until TODAY. My Ipod wouldn't turn on. I tried doing the menu select button thingy; no effect.
So, I plug my Ipod into a USB and try turning it on. It turned on, displayed the apple, then quickly shut off. So, I tried doing the menu select combo while it was plugged in; the apple stayed on the screen a little longer, but it shut down eventually as well.
Then I try to put my Ipod into disk mode. I do all of the required steps SEVERAL times; I do the slider thingy, menu select combo, quickly followed by the select play/pause combo. Nothing appeared. It just shut down again before anything could occur. I don't even see a glimpse of the "check mark" that signifies disk mode has been activated.
I have a 5th gen 80gb Ipod; and to the extent of my knowledge it's up to date.
~~~~~~ADDITIONAL NOTES~~~~~~~~
Ipod will try, on its own, when plugged in, slider away from the headphones (unlocked), to turn on. It flashes to the apple for literally half a second, turns off, then flashes again
During this process, the Ipod will occasionally mutter some sort of noise, but I can describe it is that it's like a computer having difficulties reading a disk (somewhere along those lines).
