Endless restore loop ...

I have a 30 GB iPod classic from May 2006. I'm stuck in this infamous loop that I've experienced once before. It's terribly frustrating and sad, and I've tried most solutions I've seen across the web. I've changed drive letters, updated software and iTunes. When this happened a few weeks ago, the problem turned out to be a song I downloaded was a bad file. I deleted it and then the iPod synced. But ok - here's what's happening exactly.

-Played iPod. Wouldn't respond. Tried to restart but came up with "Connect to iTunes to restore."
-I connected it to iTunes and I restored the iPod. My iPod is cleaned out and it has it's factory settings, but it won't come up with the normal "Name your iPod" screen. It just says it needs to restore. Therefore I can't sync anything.

I'd rather not download an old iTunes or take off all of my music - simply because I have two backup drives on my computer, so my music is very scattered.

I'm probably just going to resort to buying a new one, because I don't think the newer ones have this issue...

But if anyone has any input, I'd appreciate it.

Podcast Playlist Not Syncing with ...

Hello all, I am having a weird issue and I hope that someone can help (or at least commiserate). I had been syncing a smart playlist that I created for new podcasts in iTunes 8 just perfectly with my 5G iPod (on Windows 7 PC). A couple of days ago, I upgraded to iTunes 9. Everything works as before except my Podcasts playlist is now empty on the iPod. It is not empty in iTunes 9 (has three episodes) and I am syncing all audio content from my library (not select playlists or anything like that). The playlist shows up on the 5G iPod, it is jus empty. Any help would be greatly appreciated.
Thanks.

iPod keeps pausing and fast forwarding ...

I will select a song.
When it starts playing, I will browse my other songs. The second I leave the page of currently playing song, it automatically pauses and I will have to un-pause it so that the song can continue playing.
And sometimes, when a song is playing, it will fast forward itself 5-8 seconds at a time to the next song.
What is the problem here? Thanks in advance.

5th Generation 80GB sync too slow ...

I have an 80GB 5th Generation that was working fine before itunes 9.0. Upgraded to itunes 9.0.1 and there is no change.

Everything appears normal it just takes forever to sync. The sync wheel barely moves. If I just drag and drop one song into a playlist, it will take about an hour to sync. It finally finishes, but a complete album sync would take 5 hours. It is obvious that this is an itunes 9.0 problem as I have had no problems with this unit until 9.0. I would just buy a new one with a large drive (Classic 160 GB) since my 5th gen is 4 or 5 years old now, but I have read in the forums that the classics are having problems with 9.0 too. Does anyone have a resolve with the slow sync?

The Impossible Problem ...

So, here's the deal.

My Ipod has been working fine for about 2 years now, until just recently. I've experienced no problems up until TODAY. My Ipod wouldn't turn on. I tried doing the menu select button thingy; no effect.

So, I plug my Ipod into a USB and try turning it on. It turned on, displayed the apple, then quickly shut off. So, I tried doing the menu select combo while it was plugged in; the apple stayed on the screen a little longer, but it shut down eventually as well.

Then I try to put my Ipod into disk mode. I do all of the required steps SEVERAL times; I do the slider thingy, menu select combo, quickly followed by the select play/pause combo. Nothing appeared. It just shut down again before anything could occur. I don't even see a glimpse of the "check mark" that signifies disk mode has been activated.

I have a 5th gen 80gb Ipod; and to the extent of my knowledge it's up to date.

~~~~~~ADDITIONAL NOTES~~~~~~~~
Ipod will try, on its own, when plugged in, slider away from the headphones (unlocked), to turn on. It flashes to the apple for literally half a second, turns off, then flashes again
During this process, the Ipod will occasionally mutter some sort of noise, but I can describe it is that it's like a computer having difficulties reading a disk (somewhere along those lines).
How can I fix my problem? My Ipod Just ...
I have a 60GB 5th Generation iPod. A few weeks ago it was working fine. It has no damage, it operated like it was suppose to and charged like it's suppose to. I used it all day one day and it died on me before I could make it home to my charger, when I got home that night I plugged it into my wall charger and the screen said "Please Wait. Very Low Battery". I decided to just let it charge while I was sleep, but the next morning when I grabbed my iPod it STILL said "Please Wait. Very Low Battery". It wouldn't turn on at all, and I had the problem the whole day. I read through all the Apple Discussions related to my problem and tried all the suggestions.
-Toggle Hold Switch
-Reset the ipod (Multiple Times)
-Try Disk Mode
-Re-Install itunes
-Try a New Wall Charger (the adaptor thing)
-Try USB Port on Computer
-Try USB Port on another Computer
-Replace Charger (the usb cord)
-and finally replace the battery itself
None of the suggestions mentioned worked for me and this problem didn't start until the iPod died on me. Are there any other methods for me to try? My warranty is expired and I'm not buying a new ipod so I'm going for the cheapest way to fix this.
iPod 5th gen producing no sound output ...
My 5th generation iPod Classic is having the same problem that many in the forums are discussing in that it is not producing output when docked nor through the headphone jack. I experienced the same problem that is described by many on this support site: at first static, then sound would come in and out, and now nothing whatsoever.
My question is, what is Apple doing to reconcile this issue that apparently a large amount of customers are having with this model iPod? I purchased mine in early 2007 so it is out of the original 1 year service plan, but still this seems to be an overwhelming problem, which indicates a significant defect.
Has anyone come across a solution that Apple is providing for those of us who have this model iPod, who are also out of warranty?
I would love to continue to use this machine.
Thanks!
My new iPod ...
I have had an 8-gig iPod Nano 3G (please bear with me, this is about the 5th generation Nano) for about two years now and have been nothing but pleased - for the most part. I downloaded nearly 1600 songs onto it and spent a great deal of time making sure that the track info was correct and matching each track to the appropriate cover art. A few months ago I made my first purchases from the iTunes Store and have had trouble ever since. When I tried to sync my iPod after that hundreds of songs in the Library would not register and many others had their artwork deleted on the iPod. I tried several times to restore the missing tracks and information, but each time I tried Sync or just to recharge the same deletions would occur.
Finally I decided to start fresh and this past Friday I bought a brand new 16-gig iPod Nano 5thG. When I tried to sync it not only did I get the same missing tracks and artwork in Library as before but the new unit will only download 483 tracks - the same 483 tracks every time. Apple does not seem to have assistance for this problem in their troubleshooting or customer service sections; before I have to return my new iPod and blacken Apple's name across the internet can anyone out there help me?
Thank you
The way I can watch these particular video podcasts is on my desktop computer or if I send them to my Apple TV they will show up and I can watch them elsewhere in my house.
Very Low Battery". I decided to just let it charge while I was sleep, but the next morning when I grabbed my iPod it STILL said "Please Wait. Very Low Battery". It wouldn't turn on at all, and I had the problem the whole day. I read through all the Apple Discussions related to my problem and tried all the suggestions.
-Toggle Hold Switch
-Reset the ipod (Multiple Times)
-Try Disk Mode
-Re-Install itunes
-Try a New Wall Charger (the adaptor thing)
-Try USB Port on Computer
-Try USB Port on another Computer
-Replace Charger (the usb cord)
-and finally replace the battery itself
None of the suggestions mentioned worked for me and this problem didn't start until the iPod died on me. Are there any other methods for me to try? My warranty is expired and I'm not buying a new ipod so I'm going for the cheapest way to fix this.
How do I delete audiobooks that are not ...
I downloaded books from a friend of mines Itune list. These are books that she paid for so it is ok to share with me. Anyway, they never show up on my Itunes just on my IPOD. Normally I just go over to her computer and update a file I have with her. It has been easy to delete the books I have listened and download new ones. Her computer crashed and so I don't have a way to delete the files that are on my Ipod. I tried to set up a new file on her new computer but it doesn't remove the books that were already on my Ipod, just anything I have loaded since she got her new computer. What do I do now?
Problems with Muse - The Resistance on ...
Mine is a 5.5g iPod, which has a problem in that songs are being cut off before they are meant to end. I'm having this problem, but strangely it's only affecting the new Muse album, The Resistance. Apart from Uprising, every song keeps cutting off anything between 10-30 seconds before the end. I've tried re-importing the album 4 times, on different computers, and each time have I had the same problem, which only happens when I listen to it after disconnecting my ipod. When my ipod is plugged in and I listen to it through iTunes, the songs play fine, and the CD imports fine. I have also played the CD the whole way through on my stereo and no problems, with absolutely no scratches to the disc, so I don't think it's a disc problem. Has anyone else had this problem and/or can someone help me out?
Videos I took on iPod Nano can't play ...
I just got my iPod Nano (5th G) yesterday, and I took some videos and wanted to put them on my computer. I copied it, and I tried to view it. It worked on Quicktime, but when I try to do it on Windows, it saids that it doesn't recognize it. Why is it saying that? The Apple support page even said that PC's can view videos on Windows Media Player. Please help!
iPod cannot be synced. Required file ...
I havent had any trouble syncing my ipod until last week when i purchased a song. When i dragged the song to a playlist on my ipod, it appeared grey in my playlist (because it was still loading) and then disappeared. I repeated this until i gave up and I reported this as an issue to itunes. When i tried again it worked and i thought maybe the problem had fixed itself, but i tried to add a CD to my ipod a few days ago and it only synced half of the songs. Now when i try to sync the leftover songs an error box pops up saying "The iPod (name of ipod) cannot be synced. Required file not found."
Some songs will sync perfectly normal, some load but disappear, some eventually just sync, and some won't sync at all. Has anyone had this problem/ can anyone help SOLVE it? please and thank you!!!
Trying to sync ipod with another ...
Well my old computer after 6 reliable years has finally died, god rest her soul, and was used for my itunes and music. Well I have now replaced it with my dad's 2 year old laptop. I bought some songs today on this laptop with my itunes account that I had used on my old computer. However, I continue to get this:
"The ipod 'Justin's ipod' is synced with another itunes library. An ipod can only be synced with only 1 iTunes library at a time. What would you like to do?"
I don't want to have to erase all the songs off my iPod to download the new songs from my itunes because I don't have access to all those songs I originally had. I have transferred some of my songs that it would allow me but I have 200 that were not authorized for transfer.
So the question I am asking is how do I keep all the songs on my iPod and continue to download purchased songs onto my ipod?
I do still have the hard drive from the old computer, so I assume I can transfer the files off of that onto my laptop but I would like that to be a last resort option.
Thank you in advance for any help you will provide.
-Justin K.
P.S. I don't know if this is relevant but,I have checked my purchase history on my iTunes account and it only goes back to 12/30/08. I've purchased about an extra 100 songs before then.
I have a 5th generation IPOD and can't understand why it won't sync some movies and videos yet it syncs others that are in the same file format. They are in my ITunes Library and play fine there but it gives me an error message when trying to synch to IPOD telling me that this type of file format does not work on my IPOD. Again, it is the same file format as other my other movies and videos that do synch. Please help! Thank you
iPod will not turn on, connect to ...
Hey,
My iPod video that I've had since Christmas 2006 recently stopped working =( I won't turn on, reset, connect to iTunes, charge via USB or even charge via Docking Station.
I am using both a laptop and a desktop (both PC's running Vista) and nothing works.
I'd love to have my iPod back up and running... Anyone have any ideas?
Formatting an 80gb ...
Hi, I just recently bought an iPod Touch and no longer need my 80gb in its mp3 playing capacity. I was going to format it and use it as an external hard drive. If I format it in Vista, will it be usable as a removable drive, or will I need to take some additional steps? I'd rather not accidentally brick my perfectly functional 80gb (if that's possible doing this). Thanks in advance.
Play not always working correctly after ...
I have a 5th gen iPod (80 Gb) and sometimes after it wakes up from a short nap (not hybernation) the play/pause button does not work correctly. While the play/pause icon on the screen does change, the music does not resume, and remains paused.
The work around is to put it back to sleep (holding the play/pause button), then waking it up again, then I can get it to play. Is this 'typical' (presumably not normal)?
Ipod Syncing Issues ...
I have a 30 gb 5th gen iPod and no matter what I try, I cannot get my computer, nor iTunes to recognize it. The odd thing is that it will charge the ipod though. I have tried using many different cables, that I have verified worked, I have downgraded my iTunes from 9 to 8, since the problem didn't arise until I upgraded to 9. I have put my iPod into disk mode and still nothing. I have checked my iPod service and followed the instructions on resetting that with no luck. I have no idea now what to do to get my iPod to work again as it was a couple days ago!
Audiobooks crash ...
Within a couple of minutes of listening to a audiobook on my generation 5 ipod the recording goes back to zero. This always happens once a day.
The recordings are scanned using Audiobook builder
The same recording works great on my wife's 3d generation Nano
Does anyone have a solution?
I'm confused... My iPod is about full ...
Can someone please help me? I am new to all of this MP3 player business, but I am confused about my 5th gen iPod. I bought the 16gb instead of 8 so I could have lots of songs, but still tape my lectures at school. I have only ~1500 songs, but it is just about full. When I bought it, it said it holds about 4000 songs. Did I do something wrong? All I did was pop a CD into my computer, iTunes downloaded the info, and then I synced my iPod. Is there a reason I don't even have half of what I should have?
Please help.
Thank you.
